What you buy with a Mahindra is a machine the village already knows how to fix. The core range on Aglist runs from the 20 HP JIVO 225 DI at ₹4.32 lakh to the 57 HP Arjun Novo 605 DI-i near ₹9 lakh, and the middle of it is the 475 and 575 family: 2979 cc across four cylinders, oil-immersed brakes, 1500-2000 kg lift. Four cylinders at that displacement means the engine lugs rather than screams when a nine-tyne cultivator hits hard ground, and it is why these tractors stay steady on rotavator work through a full day.

The JIVO 245 DI 4WD is the odd one out and worth knowing about: 24 HP, narrow, and genuinely useful in grape and pomegranate rows.

The honest limitation is that you pay for the badge. A Mahindra 575 sits above a comparably specified Sonalika or Powertrac, and resale strength is the reason people accept it. If you buy on price alone, this is not the cheapest way to get 45 HP.

The 575 DI XP Plus is the usual answer. It makes 42 PTO HP from 2979 cc across four cylinders, which is what a 6-foot rotavator wants when the soil is dry and packed. The 475 DI XP Plus at 39.2 PTO HP handles a 5-foot rotavator comfortably and costs about ₹35,000 less.

What warranty does Mahindra give on its tractors?

Most of the current range carries 6 years. On the 265 DI XP Plus that is structured as 2 years standard plus 4 years on engine and transmission, capped at 6000 hours. The 275 DI TU is the exception at 2 years or 2000 hours, and the JIVO models run 5 years or 5000 hours.

Is Mahindra worth the extra price over Sonalika or Powertrac?

It depends on where you farm. Mahindra's advantage is that spares and a mechanic are close by almost anywhere in India, and used-tractor buyers pay more for the badge. If your district already has a strong Sonalika or Escorts dealer, that advantage shrinks and you are paying roughly ₹40,000 to ₹80,000 for reassurance.
