A 50 HP engine that puts 45.6 HP on the PTO shaft is doing something right, and that one figure explains most of the Euro 50's following in Punjab, Haryana and western UP. The coolant-cooled 2761 cc three-cylinder makes 198.5 Nm, and the PTO reaches its 540 rpm rating at only 1800 engine rpm, which is what keeps a straw reaper or a thresher properly fed without running the engine flat out all day. What you are buying here is PTO efficiency, and we rate it highly on that count. 45.6 HP at the shaft from 2761 cc, with 540 rpm arriving at 1800 engine rpm, means the reaper works at rated speed while the engine sits in its torque band instead of screaming at full throttle. The 2000 kg lift is a real advantage over the New Holland 3630 TX Super's 1700 kg, and the Euro 50 undercuts that tractor on price as well. Our reservation is the gearbox. Eight forward speeds is thin for a 50 HP machine expected to do rotavator work, road haulage and puddling in the same season, and the Solis 5015 E in this list offers 10F+5R fully synchromesh at a comparable price. Constant mesh is perfectly usable, but you feel the gaps between ratios when a loaded trolley is climbing a bund. It is also 2WD, which rules out serious levelling and dozer work. For a farmer whose calendar is built around the PTO, this is the sensible way to spend ₹7.6 lakh.
