We rate this as the sensible buy in the 6 ft class, with one condition attached: the tractor. Fifty HP is a floor, not a suggestion. Put 1881 mm of rotor behind a 40 HP machine and nothing dramatic happens, which is exactly why people do it. The tractor just slows, you drop a gear, the temperature needle climbs, and an acre that should take forty minutes takes ninety and burns the diesel to match. The gearbox is where the money goes. An SG-iron housing with a CF-technology crown wheel and pinion is what keeps a rotavator alive past its third season; on cheap machines that assembly whines first and then breaks, and a gearbox rebuild in a district town costs more than two sets of blades. Working depth of 140 to 203 mm is enough for a potato bed and enough to chop paddy stubble into the soil, though it will never invert a field the way a mould board plough does. Two warnings. TractorKarvan shows the RP 145 and RP 185 as discontinued while TractorJunction still lists the series, so confirm current stock before you hand over an advance. And at 1,25,270 rupees the top of the band is well above what a local workshop charges for six feet of steel. You are paying for the driveline.
