The Shaktiman SPHD-1 is a tractor PTO-driven auger system for individual planting or post holes. The current brochure groups several auger sizes under this model, so a quote saying only “Shaktiman digger” is incomplete. Choose the required finished hole and soil conditions before choosing an auger and tractor combination.

Read the auger row, not a family-wide power claim

The brochure lists 6- and 9-inch augers at 30–45 HP, a 12-inch auger at 35–50 HP, 18-inch at 40–55 HP and 24-inch at 45–60 HP. Its nominal maximum hole depth is 900 mm. These are specification limits, not a promise that every soil will produce a finished hole at that depth. The gearbox gives 174 auger rpm at 540 PTO rpm; those two shaft speeds are not interchangeable.

For example, the 12-inch earth-tooth row gives a 305 mm diameter and 166 kg gross weight, while its tungsten-tooth counterpart is 164 kg. Do not substitute the 52 kg “digger weight” entry for the complete combination. Confirm what the supplied gross figure includes and have hitch geometry, transport clearance and balance checked with the chosen auger.

Hydraulic assistance is an order item

Despite the brochure title “Hydraulic Post Hole Digger”, its feature list calls the hydraulic kit optional. Specify whether that kit, the shielded shaft with slip clutch, the auger and the chosen cutting teeth are included. Earth and tungsten teeth are different purchasing choices, not evidence that the machine can drill any rock. Arrange a demonstration on representative ground and identify buried services before work. Keep everyone clear of the rotating auger; stop and isolate the drive before inspection or clearing.

Compare a complete package price

Price research on 16 October 2026 found Indian portal listings split into SPHD1, SPHD2 and other numbers, whereas the current manufacturer brochure groups auger choices under SPHD-1. Without a matching auger, teeth and hydraulic-kit inclusion, those prices are not a reliable estimate for this package.
