The engine is the same 2945 cc air-cooled three-cylinder used in the 485, tuned here to 49 HP, and the tractor is rated to run a 6 foot rotavator. This is the Eicher we would pick out of the three. The 6 year warranty with a 200 hour service interval changes the arithmetic of ownership, particularly if your dealer is 60 km away and every service visit costs you a day as well as the bill. Getting oil immersed brakes as standard fitment matters if you haul sugarcane or a loaded trolley on any kind of slope. And a 49 HP air-cooled engine rated for a 6 foot rotavator gives you contract-work capability at a price that most 50 HP tractors do not touch.

Be clear about the gaps. PTO horsepower is not published for this model, and on a tractor sold partly on its 6 foot rotavator rating, that is an odd omission to leave a buyer with. Lift is still 1650 kg, the same as the 40 HP Eicher 380, which means Eicher has not scaled the hydraulics up with the engine. A 46 litre tank is small for 49 HP working hard. The air-cooled engine brings the same noise and heat penalty as in the 485, and 2100 kg will sink in wet paddy where a lighter machine floats.
