For the money, the 380 is hard to argue with. Lifting 1650 kg at ₹5.88 lakh is better hydraulics than the John Deere 5105 offers for ₹65,000 more, and 34 PTO HP is identical to what the Deere gives. The 1930 kg kerb weight is generous for 40 HP, which is why this tractor pulls a nine-tyne cultivator better than its rating suggests. High torque backup with an oil bath filter is a sensible combination for Rajasthan and MP, where the dust will finish a paper element in a season.

The compromises are all in the fittings. Power steering is optional and so are oil immersed brakes, which means the ₹5.88 lakh price is for a tractor with mechanical steering and dry disc brakes. Add both and you are close to ₹6.58 lakh, and the gap to a Deere or a Farmtrac narrows a lot. Partial constant mesh is a halfway house: some shifts are easy, others are not, and a new driver will grind gears while learning which is which. The 45 litre tank is small, so expect a diesel stop in the middle of a long day of rotavator work.
