Most power tillers are built to one recipe. The Mega T 15 breaks from it in a few places: a Kirloskar single-cylinder horizontal water-cooled diesel meeting TREM III at 2000 rated rpm, 22 rotary blades driven by chain rather than the usual gear side-drive, two rotor speeds of 183 and 304 rpm, and a side PTO turning at 1200 rpm so you can belt-drive a pump or a small thresher off the machine. Track width adjusts between 660 and 810 mm and the whole unit is 3020 mm long. KMW sells a Sugarcane Special version set up for cane row spacing, which is unusual in this category and explains why you see it in parts of Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu rather than only in the paddy belts.

Our verdict: KMW Mega T 15

Verdict by the Aglist editorial desk

The specification is the most interesting in this group. A side PTO at 1200 rpm turns the tiller into a stationary power source between seasons, the two rotor speeds let you drop to 183 rpm for wet puddling and lift to 304 rpm for dry tilth, and 15 HP from a Kirloskar engine means any diesel mechanic in India can work on it. Adjustable 660 to 810 mm track is a real advantage in cane rows. What we cannot get past is the price. ₹2.85 lakh is a single fixed figure with no variation, and it is the dearest power tiller on this page by ₹1 lakh over the Shrachi SF 15 DI of the same 15 HP rating. For that money you are within reach of a used mini tractor in many markets. KMW also does not publish a total machine weight or a fuel tank capacity; the 138 kg quoted is engine dry weight only. On a machine where working weight decides how well it puddles, that omission matters, and we would insist a dealer weighs one before you commit.

KMW Mega T 15 — What works / What to watch

What works

  • Side PTO at 1200 rpm lets you belt-drive a pump or small thresher off-season
  • Two rotor speeds, 183 rpm for wet puddling and 304 rpm for dry tilth
  • Kirloskar engine means spares and mechanics are available across India
  • Track adjusts 660 to 810 mm, useful for sugarcane and other row spacings
  • TREM III compliant with 22 blades on a chain drive

What to watch

  • ₹2.85 lakh is the dearest tiller here, ₹1 lakh above the 15 HP Shrachi
  • Total machine weight is not published; 138 kg is engine dry weight only
  • No published fuel tank capacity, which makes planning a work day harder
  • At this price a used mini tractor becomes a serious alternative

What farmers use it for

Best for: Sugarcane row work and mixed wet and dry tillage where a side PTO for stationary jobs is genuinely useful.

Wet and dry land tillage, paddy puddling, sugarcane inter-row work, small-holding cultivation

KMW Mega T 15 — Frequently asked questions

What is the price of the KMW Mega T 15 power tiller?

₹2.85 lakh, quoted as a single figure rather than a range. That is the highest price among the power tillers we list, around ₹1 lakh above the 15 HP Shrachi SF 15 DI. Check what your state agriculture department offers as subsidy on power tillers, since it can change the arithmetic substantially at this level.

What can the side PTO on the KMW Mega T 15 be used for?

It runs at 1200 rpm and lets you belt-drive stationary equipment when the tiller is parked, typically an irrigation pump or a small thresher. For a farmer with two or three acres, that turns a seasonal machine into something earning its keep through more of the year, and it is not a feature most power tillers in this price range offer.

How much does the KMW Mega T 15 weigh?

KMW publishes 138 kg as the engine dry weight but does not state a total machine weight, and we will not estimate one. This matters on a power tiller because working weight is what forces the blades down into wet clay. Ask the dealer for the loaded weight in writing, or have a unit weighed, before you compare it with a 405 kg VST or a 480 kg Shrachi.

Is the KMW Mega T 15 suitable for sugarcane?

KMW sells a Sugarcane Special variant of this machine set up for cane row spacing, and the standard unit's adjustable 660 to 810 mm track already helps. That is a real point of difference in this category, where most tillers are designed around paddy first. If cane inter-row work is your main use, ask specifically for that variant.
