Our case for this machine is money and power, in that order. At 1.58 lakh rupees against 2.50 lakh and up for a super seeder, and 50 to 60 HP instead of 65 to 75, the happy seeder puts residue-free sowing within reach of a farm that owns one 55 HP tractor and nothing else. That is a genuinely different customer. What you give up is the seedbed. Zero-till sowing into hard, unworked soil means the drill has to place seed accurately through a straw layer, and if the field is uneven or the straw is bunched from a badly set combine, you get patchy germination and blame the machine. The mulch also holds moisture, which is a gift in a dry November and a problem in a wet one.
