We rate the 9100 on its threshing end. A 606 mm drum with 57 blades and 58 guards, five straw walkers behind it and a heavy-duty dry clutch is a combination built to keep going in thick, damp Punjab wheat where lighter setups start slipping and glazing plates. The 2.7 cubic metre tank is the biggest among the Indian machines here and cuts the number of times a full header has to stop for the trolley. Then there is the price. ₹34.50 lakh for the cabin version is ₹11 lakh over the base machine and puts this above the New Holland TC5.30, which brings 138 HP and a 15 ft header for ₹29.51 lakh at its entry price. That comparison is hard to argue away. A dry clutch is also a wear item, and in a season of constant starts and stops in soft ground, budget for it. Buy the open version at ₹23.50 lakh and it is good value. Buy the top cabin and you are paying imported-brand money for a Malerkotla machine.
