How Much Tractor HP Do You Need? — By Acreage and Implement
Pick engine horsepower from your acreage, soil type and the implements you actually run. Roughly 98% of tractors sold in India are under 50 HP.

Two things the table does not tell you
First, soil. Heavy black cotton soil wants five to ten more horsepower for the same acreage, and in puddled paddy fields weight per horsepower matters as much as the number itself — a light tractor just spins.
Second, your heaviest implement, not your average one. If a 6 ft rotavator runs ten days a year, size the tractor for those ten days.
