झारखंड में ट्रैक्टर रजिस्ट्रेशन और रोड टैक्स के नियम
Nil for pure agricultural use. Jharkhand Motor Vehicles Taxation Act 2001 s.4: 'Nothing in this Act shall apply to a motor vehicle used solely for the purposes of agriculture', with the qualification that 'A motor vehicle used for transporting agricultural produce shall not for the purpose of this section, be deemed to be used solely for the purpose of agriculture.' s.2(c) adopts the Motor Vehicles Act 1988 definitions of tractor and trailer. Rates sit in Schedules I, II and III, which were not retrievable. The Act has been amended repeatedly, including in 2018, 2020 and 2021.
Jharkhand was carved out of Bihar and its s.4 is near-identical to Bihar s.4, including the produce-transport carve-out. Bihar's Act additionally provides the Rs 3,000 / Rs 5,000 tractor-trailer lump sum under s.7(7); whether Jharkhand carries an equivalent provision was NOT verified — its schedules could not be retrieved. Publish the s.4 exemption (safe) and note that a tractor-trailer combination may attract a lump sum, to be confirmed at the RTO.
